I have always been fascinated by the way a draped fabric folds itself in very organic shapes. For this room the idea was to make a huge blanket that we hang from the ceiling of the building.
An experimental room created by Tord Boontje in his studio in France.

Petit Jardin is like sitting inside a garden of plants and flowers. Twisted, tangled branches create a bench and armchair shape.
The Petit Jardin pieces are the first new products from the Studio Tord Boontje collection. Both pieces are made in an edition of 10 and are available in white.

Over a decade's worth of his work is detailed in Tord Boontje, a book that is, in itself, an innovatively designed object. The text - extensively researched by Martina Margetts whose comprehensive knowledge of Boontje's work goes back to the early '90s - draws on a year-long series of conversations with the designer, and over thirty interviews with Tord Boontje's family, friends, colleagues and clients, covering his life, his projects and their cultural context.
Tord Boontje is published by Rizzoli and is available from May 2007
