Tord Boontje book

I believe that if we see design as a way of shaping the future of our world, it should be as exciting and thrilling as a great film or book. At the same time, it should communicate not only who we are, but also how we would ideally like our world to be.

Over a decade's worth of his work is detailed in Tord Boontje, a book that is, in itself, an innovatively designed object. The text - extensively researched by Martina Margetts whose comprehensive knowledge of Tord’s work goes back to the early '90s - draws on a year-long series of conversations with the designer, and over thirty interviews with Tord’s family, friends, colleagues and clients, covering his life, his projects and their cultural context.

The unique design of the book has been created by Graphic Thought Facility, based in London, with whom Tord has worked since 1999. Art-directed by Tord himself, 120 full-page photographs were taken for the book by Annabel Elston and Angela Moore, who shot in settings created in Tord’s studio in France and the forests around it.
