Shipwrecked

Being shipwrecked was a lucky escape from disaster, it also was a moment when everything changed. A moment of arriving, unexpectedly, in a new place and creating a new existence. Inspired by stories, the surrounding nature, available materials and desires, we live on our Shipwrecked Island. It’s a warm and sunny place, filled with tropical plants, birds and colours. It is sited somewhere in the ocean, the deep blue expanse with its alluring mysteries.

After an initial phase of making shelter and survival, we started to look around the island and discover our new resources. Wood to make tables, chairs and cabinets, shells and pearls to make lamps and jewellery.

We use reference books to identify edible fruits and vegetables. We use raffia to make rope, clay to make pots, blue for the waves of the ocean, orange and gold for the beach, earth and rocks. With green colours, we draw the leaves, the ferns, the flowers and the layers of the jungle.

Thus, we start to belong.
